Email Client Setup WichitaOnline
An e-mail client can be a great thing when you are either new to using email, or when you just want to be getting your email at all time. Wichita Online offers web access to your email for when you don't want to use a client, or for when you are away. This page will help you setup an email client for the Wichita Online system so that you can stay connected to your friends and family.
Microsoft Outlook Express (and Microsoft Windows Mail -- same thing) is the most common option because it is part of the Internet Explorer suite that is installed by default on the Windows operating system. Many customers use this cause they don't know of anything else. There are several alternatives to Outlook and its clones and one will also be discussed later on this page. Wichita Online doesn't force any customer to use any certain program. It is your choice, providing your client supports the requirements.
- Open Outlook Express and click on tools, then click accounts.
- In the accounts window click on add (or new), and mail.
- Enter your name and your email address and click next.
- Enter the Wichita Online email server information from the support page and click next.
- Make sure the username is the entire email address and enter your password.
Microsoft Outlook is different than Outlook Express in that it costs money (it is part of the Microsoft Office suite) and it uses a different subset of tools, and thus a slightly different setup interface. If you would like to use Microsoft Outlook, you will first have to have it installed, and then you can follow these easy instructions. These instruction are a guide as every version of Microsoft Outlook is different. Please use your discretion.
- Open Microsoft Outlook and click tools, then account settings.
- Click new or, depending on the version, add and then next.
- Select the correct type of mail server, or, again depending on the version, insert the settings information
- type in your name, email address, username, and password all depending on the version and what is requested by Outlook. Then click next or ok.
- Mail server information is on the support page.
Mozilla Thunder is a free alternative to the above mentioned e-mail clients. It supports open standards and a nice, easy to use interface.
